Jeff Allen, Mayor of Scott City, is seeking applications from eligible residents interested in filling a vacancy on the City Council. 

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a full-time resident of Ward 3 in the City of Scott City.  Ward 3 Map (please review the City’s Ward Map - Ward 3 is represented in blue).  If you need assistance determining your ward, please contact City Hall at 620-872-5322.
  • Be a qualified elector of the City (registered voter) as provided in the Kansas Constitution article 5, section 1.
  • Be willing and able to fulfill the duties of City Council Member for the remainder of an unexpired term which ends January, 2027.

The Mayor intends to make an appointment for the vacant position at the Regular City Council Meeting on Monday, February 17, 2026 at 6:30 p.m.

The Council of the City of Scott City meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month in City Hall. All meetings of the Scott City Governing Body are open to the public.

The City of Scott City has a Governing Body consisting of the Mayor and eight City Council members who are elected by the people of the City. The Mayor is elected by the City at large, and the eight Council members are elected from each of the four wards of the City, two from each ward.

The Mayor and City Council members serve a four-year term. The Governing Body, being the elected representatives of the people, adopts all ordinances and resolutions and determines the general goals and policies.

On March 4, 2022, Mayor Everett Green issued a Proclamation that the City of Scott City stands in solidarity with Ukraine with the hope of a prompt end to this war and for a prosperous future for the independent country of Ukraine and her people.
